Everyone 6 months and older should get a flu vaccine each year. This recommendation has been in place since February 24, 2010 when CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) voted for “universal” flu vaccination in the U.S. to expand protection against the flu to more people. While everyone should get a flu vaccine each flu season, it’s especially important that certain people get vaccinated either because they are at high risk of having serious flu-related complications or because they live with or care for people at high risk for developing flu-related complications.
The cash price for a flu shot will be $20.00 for adults and $8.00 for children 6 months through 18 years of age. The health district will be using VaxCare again this year as the supplier and billing partner for the influenza vaccinations. Most health insurances will be accepted. The non-health insurance price will be $20.00 per shot; if you choose to use your health insurance to pay for your shot and the vaccine is not a covered service, you will receive a bill from VaxCare for the amount of the vaccine billed to your insurance which may be different than the non-insurance price. Medicare, Medicaid, CareSource, Molina, and Amerigroup will be accepted.
